Day 7: God says you are…
In the past few years ang daming naglabasang mga reality TV shows and talent searches. With these shows came in a new generation of stars whose popularity became their stepping stone in the world of showbiz. Some of these personalities are still living their dream life, while some have lost their fame in just a matter of years, or maybe months.
Sa bansang kagaya natin na ang mga artista ay halos kabahagi na ng ating mga pamilya, gaano nga ba kahalaga ang impluwensiya nila sa atin? When some of our famous personalities turn out to be a nuisance in the society because of their bad examples, and the television shows depict more of the moral disgrace of society, are we still giving media the key to influence our daily lives?
At one time or another, we have thought about being a famous personality seen on TV. Marahil ginusto ng karamihan sa atin na maging artista, or maging sikat na atleta. We want influence and we have dreamt of influencing and ultimately changing lives.
But as Christians, to have a bright personality, to be a star, you don’t really need to be seen on TV and print ads or be heard on radio. We can be a star in the eyes of the world when we shine the light of Jesus in this dark and crooked world. When everyone else resorts to bribery and corruption, refuse to join the gang; when everyone else compromises their standards just to accommodate the lifestyle they desire, choose to do the opposite.
A star is seen bright on a dark sky, likewise be a star that shines brighter than the celebrities we know by influencing those who live beside you – your family, your friend and your neighbours.
…live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
